Cautionnnnn Wet Floorrrrrrr!

(Some urban fun last night after spiritual buddha mountain day)

The last few days I started my vacation in Hong Kong. It’s a very nice asian city, which is quite different then the Japan cities I visited. Hong Kong is an awesome spot, but I wouldn’t want to spend more then a few months here for living.

Today I visited Shenzhen, one of the richest chinese cities. I will have a big story about this trip soon since it’s a very interesting experience.

The offline picture publishing project is stable enough to use, so starting today I will publish pictures every few days. I’m still working on the blogging functionalities, so the stories will come later.

At the moment I’m chilling out in my mafia/getto centered hotel in kowloon, watching some propaganda by the PRC’s communist party.

Leaving for Hong Kong

on June 25, 2006

Hallo iedereen!

At the moment i’m at schiphol airport making some reservations and getting a travel insurence (even though I really hate insurences). In one hour I will board the airplane to Hong Kong with skill. This will be the kickoff of our 2 month trip in Asia.

We will start blogging soon after we finished the shashin in the airplane.

After vainly searching for analytical papers on Web 2.0, I started a literature study to answer the following questions:

  • Is there indeed a change in the IT industry, shifting software products to software services?
  • How does this change relate to Web2.0, Software-as-a-Service and Service Oriented (Business) Architectures?
  • What consequences does this change have to the Software Development process, methods and techniques?

This study, that started in April, produced an article this week entitled Shifting from Software Products to Online Services: changes in the Software Development Process.

You can use this material however you please, on condition that you preserve it’s original form with a reference to the author.

future guidelines

on June 08, 2006

I’ve just made some future plans, which I would like to share. In general I think planning anything too detailed is wrong. That’s why I think planning your future should be principle based, making them rather guidelines.

Happy hacking!
